1. General
These Terms and Conditions govern the rental of vehicles from Boss Auto Rentals. By booking orrenting a vehicle from us, the renter agrees to comply with these terms. Boss Auto Rentalsreserves the right to refuse a rental at its discretion if the renter does not meet the required conditions.
2. Driver Eligibility
Drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver licence for at least 12 months, andprovide a licence in English or an International Driving Permit with translation if required.
Additional $10 per day charge if the driver is 21 years to under 25 years old.
Only drivers listed on the rental agreement may drive the vehicle. Additional driver can be addedwhile booking by paying an extra fee as shown on the booking page.
3. Rental Period
• The rental period begins at the pickup time and date stated in the agreement and ends when thevehicle is returned.
• Late returns may incur additional charges.
• Boss Auto Rentals reserves the right to charge additional rental fees if the vehicle is returned afterthe agreed return time.
• Customers are kindly requested to return the vehicle at the agreed date and time stated in the rental agreement.
3.1 Late Returns
• A complimentary grace period of up to 2 hours is provided after the scheduled return time.
• If the vehicle is returned more than 2 hours late, an additional charge of $15 per hour may applyfor the next 2 hours.
• Returns exceeding this period may incur a full extra day & rental charge.
• If you expect to be delayed, please contact Boss Auto Rentals as soon as possible so we canassist where possible.
3.2 Rental Extensions
If you would like to extend your rental period, please contact us before your scheduled returntime.
Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and payment confirmation.
4. Payment & Bond
Full payment must be made before or at the start of the rental period.
A security bond (as per insurance cover chosen) will be held on the renter's credit card for theduration of the rental depending on the insurance cover chosen.
The bond may be used to cover:
• Damage to the vehicle
• Traffic fines
• Fuel charges
• Cleaning fees
• Late return chargesThe bond will be released once the vehicle is returned and inspected.
5. Insurance & Excess
All rentals include standard insurance coverage subject to an excess amount.
Typical excess levels:
• Standard Cover – up to $2500 excess
• Reduced Excess/Medium Cover – $1500 excess
• Full Cover – $500 excess
Insurance may be void if the renter breaches the rental agreement.
6. Vehicle Use Restrictions
Vehicles must not be used:
• Off-road or on restricted unsealed roads, specially Skippers Road and many others.
• For racing
• For towing
• For competitions
• For transporting illegal goods
• By unauthorized drivers
Smoking inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited.
A cleaning fee of up to $150 may apply if the vehicle is returned excessively dirty.
7. Fuel Policy
Vehicles will be provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same fuel level.If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, cost of fuel plus $20 refuelling charges will apply.
8. Accidents & Damage
In the event of an accident or damage, the renter must:
• Inform Boss Auto Rentals immediately
• Inform Police immediately
• Complete an accident report
Failure to report an accident may void insurance coverage.
9. Traffic Offences & Fines
The renter is responsible for all traffic infringements, parking fines, and toll charges incurredduring the rental period.Administrative fees of $35 may apply for processing fines.
10. Vehicle Condition
The renter agrees to return the vehicle in the same condition as received, with all keys and accessories, and at the agreed location & time.
Damage not noted at pickup may be charged to the renter.
11. Cancellation & Refund Policy
11.1 Customer-Initiated Cancellations
• Within 24 hours of booking: Full refund, provided the vehicle pickup date is more than 48 hoursaway.
• More than 24 hours after booking and up to 48 hours before the rental start time: 50% refund ofthe total booking amount.
• Within 48 hours of the rental start time: No refund.
• No-shows: If the vehicle is not collected at the agreed date and time without prior notice, norefund will be provided.
• Booking amendments: Changes to booking dates or times are subject to vehicle availability andmay result in a rate adjustment.
• Refunds: Where applicable, will be processed to the original payment method and may take5–10 business days to appear in your account.
11.2 Company-Initiated Cancellations
If Boss Auto Rentals is unable to provide the booked vehicle due to unforeseen circumstances(including but not limited to mechanical issues or operational constraints), the customer will beoffered:
• A suitable replacement vehicle (subject to availability), or a full refund of any amount paid.
11.3 Cancellation Method
All cancellations must be submitted via email or the official booking channel and must beacknowledged and confirmed by Boss Auto Rentals to be considered valid.
12. Liability
Boss Auto Rentals shall not be liable for:
• Loss of personal belongings
• Delays due to mechanical failure or unforeseen circumstances
• Indirect or consequential losses
13. Compliance with New Zealand Transport Laws
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
The renter agrees to always comply with all applicable New Zealand transport laws, regulations and codes, including but not limited to:
1. The Land Transport Act 1998
2. The Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004
3. The Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999
4. The Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999
5. The Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002
6. All applicable rules and guidance issued by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency
Driver Responsibilities
The renter and any authorized driver must:
• Not operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Drive in accordance with all road rules, speed limits, and traffic signs
• Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts at all times
• Comply with all driver licensing requirements applicable in New Zealand
• Ensure child restraints comply with New Zealand legal requirements
Liability for Breaches
The renter is fully responsible for any fines, penalties, infringements, or legal breaches incurredduring the rental period.
Any breach of New Zealand transport laws may result in:
1. Immediate termination of the rental agreement
2. Loss of insurance cover
3. Full liability for all damages and associated costs
