Vehicles built for Southern Lakes roads. The Crown Range, Coronet Peak access road and the run to Milford Sound aren’t the same as motorway driving. Our Subaru XV, Subaru Outback and Jeep Grand Cherokee are all-wheel drive, and we can arrange snow chains in advance for winter alpine routes.
One-way Christchurch ⇄ Queenstown hire. Fly into Christchurch, drive SH8 through the Mackenzie Basin, and drop the car with us in Queenstown — or the reverse. It’s the most common South Island road trip, and you don’t need to double back.
Debit cards accepted. You don’t need a credit card to pay the bond, which matters if you’ve arrived on a travel card or a non-NZ account.
Local delivery and collection. We bring the car to your accommodation across Queenstown, Frankton, Lake Hayes Estate, Arrowtown and Jack’s Point, and collect it again at the end of your hire. After our standard hours(9am -7pm) pickup and drop-off can be arranged on request.

Queenstown Airport is one of New Zealand’s busiest regional terminals, and the rental desks reflect that — long queues on peak arrivals, and premium airport concession pricing built into the daily rate.
How it works. Give us your flight number when you book. We can meet you at the terminal or collect you the short distance to Lake Hayes Estate, and you drive away in a car that’s already been checked and cleaned. On departure, drop the car back with us or return it to the airport by arrangement.
Late and early flights. Queenstown’s schedule is weather-dependent, and diversions to Invercargill or Dunedin are a normal part of winter. Talk to us if your flight moves — you’re dealing with the branch directly, not a national reservations line.
From Lake Hayes Estate you’re within 40 minutes of four ski fields — Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone. The access roads to Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are steep, unsealed in sections, and chains are frequently required from June through September.
Our Subaru XV and Subaru Outback are the vehicles most Queenstown ski hires book — genuine all-wheel drive, roof capacity for boards and skis, and enough ground clearance for the mountain roads. For groups, the Toyota Vellfire 7 seater and Toyota Vellfire 8-seat and Nissan Serena Hybrid carry a full car of people plus gear.
